Twice a year, LifeFlight welcomes 35 new recruits to take part in a medical experience like no other.
We are now accepting applications for suitably qualified Critical Care Doctors to work on board rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. You will provide primary scene response, inter-facility transfers, and search and rescue missions throughout Queensland and occasional international retrievals around the world.
6 month or 12 month, fixed-term contracts are available across our bases, including Brisbane, Bundaberg, Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, and Toowoomba / Roma for the 2027 terms.
When you join the LifeFlight team, you’ll embark on an eight-day, world-class training experience. This includes four days of hands-on aviation training, featuring Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS), and Winch Training - plus four days of Clinical Training at the LifeFlight Training Academy (LTA) in Brisbane. You will be supported by our dedicated training teams and completion and passing of all training components are essential to perform the operational duties of the role.
Our Critical Care Doctors provide, in collaboration with Flight Nurses and Paramedics, provide pre-hospital treatment and medical monitoring through the deployment of our own rescue helicopter and air ambulance fleets. They also complete missions for other providers of emergency and aeromedical care to the Queensland community.
Retrieval Registrars will receive regular clinical supervision, and ongoing training and education to develop and enhance clinical leadership, decision making, and management skills in retrieval medicine and pre-hospital care.
