PICU and Retrieval Registrar

To provide medical care and receive training in intensive care medicine within a tertiary children’s hospital. The case-mix of QCH provides registrars with exposure to the full range of subspecialties including neuro-intensive care, trauma & burns, cardiac intensive care and ECLS, liver transplant, and oncology and BMT. In addition, registrars will rotate through the Paediatric Retrieval Service (CHQRS).

 As a PICU registrar at QCH you will have:

 -       protected education time

-       support for quality improvement and research projects with the Paediatric Critical Care Research Group

-       access to courses including Paeds Basic, Advanced Paediatric Intensive Care Simulation (APICS), the ECLS course, and the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET).

 -       the opportunity to develop specific interests by engaging with one of our unit special interest groups, or consultants with special interests, including: End of life, Organ donation and Ethics; Wellbeing; Retrieval Medicine; Cardiac & ECLS; Liberation; Neuro-intensive care; Social Club Committee.

 QCH is located in the inner south of Brisbane. The hospital is very close to Southbank Parklands, the Botanical Gardens, and the Qld Performing Arts Centre and cultural precinct. The surrounding suburbs are liveable, well serviced by public transport and bike paths, and contain excellent primary and high schools, and early childhood education centres. There are multiple restaurants, bars, live music venues, and family friendly spaces close by to the hospital, making it easy to socialise after work. Brisbane is a 45min -1 hour drive from both the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, and many outdoor activities can be enjoyed in Queensland’s excellent weather.
