Director, Emergency Department - Warringal Private Hospital

0.5 FTE Non-clinical; 0.5 FTE Clinical

 

About the Role:

The Site Director is the senior clinical and operational leader of the Warringal Private Emergency Department, operated by PEHA, and will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading Ramsay Health Care’s new national flagship private ED.

This is a rare opportunity for a highly experienced FACEM to lead the design, commissioning and long-term success of a new private emergency service. The role combines clinical leadership, operational governance, workforce development and culture-building, and will work closely with Ramsay executives to deliver a benchmark private ED model.

 

About You:

You are a senior, highly respected FACEM with significant leadership experience and the credibility to lead a flagship service.

You will bring:

·        Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM)

·        Extensive experience in emergency medicine, ideally across both public and private settings

·        Demonstrated senior leadership or Director-level management experience

·        Proven ability to build teams, lead change and establish positive culture

·        Strong commercial and operational acumen

·        An ambitious but grounded leadership style—strategic, decisive and people-focused

 

About Warringal Private Emergency Department:

Ramsay are proud to announce the opening of Warringal Private’s state-of-the-art Emergency Department, designed to deliver timely, high-quality care in a modern and patient-focused environment.

The ED features:

  • 7 Acute Bays, including 1 Isolation Room
  • 1 Treatment Room with Plaster Trap 
  • 2 Resuscitation Rooms
  • 4 Fast Track Bays with comfortable recliners
  • 3 Dedicated Paediatric Bays

All acute, paediatric, and resus bays are equipped with Philips Monitoring, centrally displayed at the main staff station and overviewed at the paediatric station for enhanced visibility and response.

In addition, the department includes 18 Short Stay Unit (SSU) beds supporting seamless transitions from emergency care to observation and recovery.

Deputy Director Opportunity:

Candidates not yet ready for a full Site Director role but with strong leadership capability may be appointed as Deputy Director.

The Deputy Director will:

·        Act as a DEMT-style leader, combining clinical shifts with operational and people leadership

·        Support the Site Director in workforce management, rostering, performance and culture

·        Play a hands-on role in the day-to-day running of the ED

·        Be a key succession and development role with exposure to executive leadership

 

Ideal for FACEMs who are:

·        Experienced and respected clinicians

·        Already undertaking leadership or DEMT responsibilities

·        Ambitious and seeking a clear pathway to future Director roles
