Townsville Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Emergency Medicine Specialist to join the team at Charters Towers Hospital, delivering high quality emergency and inpatient care at our Level 3 facility.

About the Role
As the Emergency Medicine Specialist based in Charters Towers, you will:
- Provide comprehensive Emergency Medicine expertise in a generalist environment, including both Emergency Department presentations and inpatient care. This role includes participation in the on-call roster.
- Support Rural Generalist Medical Officers as part of a collaborative senior medical team with shared responsibility for patient care.
- Deliver expert consultation and advice to patients, families and colleagues, and contribute as a key member of the Senior Medical Officer team.
- Participate actively in quality improvement, risk management, peer review and audit, and demonstrate positive change as a result.
- Maintain appropriate credentials and practise within your awarded Scope of Clinical Practice, aligned with the Clinical Service Capability Framework (CSCF).
- Ensure high quality, timely clinical and nonclinical documentation, including oversight of documentation completed by junior medical staff.
- Supervise and mentor prevocational and vocational Rural Generalist trainees within the Emergency Department, providing guidance and support for their training.
Although the role is based in Charters Towers, you are part of the wider Rural Hospitals Service Group, which includes Ingham and Ayr, with strong support from Townsville University Hospital.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent specialist qualification
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution
- Current AHPRA registration, or eligibility for registration, to practise Emergency Medicine in Australia
- Demonstrated clinical experience in both adult and paediatric Emergency Medicine
- Highly desirable: additional experience or formal qualifications in adult and paediatric emergency care

Benefits
We offer a highly competitive remuneration package, including:
- Total estimated remuneration up to $607,670 p.a. (inclusive of allowances and superannuation)
- Base salary (L18–L27): $210,332 - $266,677 p.a.
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance: 50% base salary
- Emergency Department Specialty Allowance: 25% of base salary
- Regional and Rural Attraction Allowance (5% base salary)
- Inaccessibility Incentive Scheme (payable after 12 months)
