Staff Specialist/Research Director Emergency Department

Job Description

Dual role providing clinical services within The Prince Charles Hospital Adults and/or Children’s Emergency departments (0.5 FTE) in accordance with the requirements of the Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist position in combination with Research Director Emergency Departments position (0.5 FTE).

The primary purpose of the Research Director role is to lead, govern and manage research endeavours based within TPCH Emergency Department but not necessarily exclusively pertaining to the Emergency Department.  This represents a key leadership role within the Emergency Department in which the successful applicant will be anticipated to help promote research culture through actively integrating their clinical and research roles. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving research excellence across The Prince Charles Hospital's Adult and Children's Emergency Departments. Working closely with the established Adult and Children's Emergency Research (ACER) Group and the TPCH Director of Research, you will lead the development, governance and growth of emergency medicine research programs while maintaining an active clinical presence as an Emergency Physician or Paediatric Emergency Physician. As a recognised clinical and academic leader, you will foster a strong research culture, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration and support the translation of evidence into clinical practice.

Role requires specialist registration with AHPRA and must hold qualifications of FACEM, FACEM-PEM or RACP-PEM. Emergency Medicine research background with a higher degree research qualification desirable but not mandatory.
