QEII Emergency Department is seeking registrars and principal house officers to join our Emergency Department. We are a metro hospital in Brisbane located 15 minutes from the city centre. The ED sees approximately 70,000 presentations a year and is accredited for 36 months of ACEM advanced training. We welcome applicants at every stage — from junior PHOs through to late-stage advanced trainees. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, and we are genuinely flexible: you can join us for all or part of the year. Our education program is a real strength, with four hours of protected teaching time each week pitched across all levels of experience, alongside dedicated special skills terms in simulation, medical education, ultrasound and anaesthetic rotations to meet critical care requirements. We have well-established and highly successful primary and fellowship exam preparation pathways. Led by 32 FACEMs, the department has a strong reputation for teaching, mentoring and a supportive training culture. Non-ACEM trainees are equally welcome and receive the same clinical exposure and educational support.
QEII Hospital Emergency Department is an inner Brisbane facility with an annual attendance of 64,000 presentations per year (7% paediatric). The Emergency Department is accredited as a Tier 1 department for 36 months duration of training time and is designated as a non-major-referral hospital for training purposes. We have established connections with Queensland Children’s Hospital and surrounding units to help registrars gain the varied experiences necessary for ACEM Training.
