Emergency Medicine Service Registrar - Albany
We are seeking enthusiastic service registrars who want to combine a great mix of rural and regional medicine with one of WA’s best kept secrets in terms of location and lifestyle.
Located on the south coast of WA, Albany is a town of approximately 30,000 people with all the amenities of a small city such as great restaurants, a state-of-the-art Entertainment Centre and stunning surrounds with some of Australia’s best beaches close by. Perth is 420km away, with good air links.
Our Emergency Department (ED) has two resus bays, eight acute cubicles, four fast track cubicles as well as integrated computerised work management and pathology / radiology systems. We also have an ED Short Stay Unit. There is an expanding cohort (currently twelve) of committed locally resident FACEMs, as well as senior rural generalists whose sub-specialty professional interests include teaching/simulation, ultrasound and research. There is an opportunity to practice airway skills in theatre or complete Prostart as well as undertake GP advanced skills training (AST) in emergency medicine (either RACGP or ACRRM) or undertake the FEMTP/IEMTP/AEMTP. We have a broad case mix, which includes all categories of adult and paediatric cases, medical and surgical. Paediatrics make up approximately 20 per cent of our presentations and major trauma is not uncommon.
The roster comprises five doctors per shift (including the FACEM) and overnight there is two doctors with FACEM on-call, providing excellent supervision and apprentice-style learning. The registrar has a segregated five hours of formal education per week. We are accredited for 24 months

Emergency Medicine – Service Registrar - Bunbury

Emergency Medicine – Service Registrar - Busselton
We are seeking ACRRM and RACGP Registrars, enrolled in the Rural Generalist Training Pathway, or those with intent to join RG college training, to join our dedicated teams at Busselton Health Campus or Margaret River Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on Emergency Medicine experience in a rural setting. You’ll be part of a supportive environment that values collaboration, professional development, and patient-centred care. We aim to build the Coastal region as a training hub for Rural Generalists. Currently we have Registrars completing their Core and Advanced skills components of their training. Registrars will work under the supervision of Rural Generalists and FACEMS, whilst also providing support, teaching and supervision of Junior medical staff and medical students.
Busselton is a multipurpose hospital with a mixed model of care – seeing between 70 – 100 patients a day. Senior staffing is a mixture of GP/RG and Non-GP/RG specialists working across General Medical Wards, Anesthetics and Obstetrics.
The Emergency Department sees a wide variety of presentations including pediatrics, acute medical, surgical, mental health and geriatric cases.

Emergency Medicine – Service Registrar – Broome
Broome Hospital is seeking Service Registrars to provide a high-quality patient centered care to patients under the supervision of the Head of Department or duty consultant within the Emergency Medicine Departments.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop your emergency clinical skills and grow into senior roles that will be expected of you once you are an independent clinician. This will include, but not be limited to, the opportunity to participate in departmental education sessions, participation in audits, clinical governance and quality improvement projects.
Applicants to this position in Broome may be required to provide services on a “service needs basis” at our wider Kimberley regional hospital sites being Derby, Kununurra, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek and Wyndham. This will provide an excellent opportunity for Service Registrars to provide care and gain excellent clinical experience.
The successful applicants will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to review the medical needs of patients within Broome Health Campus and provide teaching and support, as appropriate to Doctors in Training (DiT’s), Nursing, Allied Health and other multidisciplinary team members across the service and will be expected to share after-hours, evening and night shift with their peers on a pro-rata basis.

Emergency Medicine – Service Registrar – Geraldton
The emergency department at Geraldton Health Campus will move into a new facility in August 2026. The expanded footprint brings greater capacity on the main floor, additional ED short stay admission accommodation, separate and purpose designed fast track area, and a Behavioural Observation Area (BOA).
The ACEM positions are accredited for 12 months of specialist training and allow trainees to focus on their professional development, decision making and procedural skills acquisition. Registrars are rostered for 4 hours of paid protected teaching time per week. Our relationship with Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital allows teaching resources, as well as Primary and Fellowship Exam preparation, to be shared between the two sites. There are opportunities to be involved in Quality Improvement activities and to complete the ACEM 4:10 requirements.
The term is also accredited for ACRRM and RACGP for advanced skills placements. Registrar positions are available for GP trainees seeking Advanced Specialist Training/Advanced Rural Skills Training, and non-vocationally committed suitably qualified doctors to experience rural emergency medicine in a supportive and friendly environment. There is the opportunity to complete an ACEM Associateship (previously EM Certificate and Diploma).
Opportunities for ED procedural and airway skills development are available and can be tailored to individual levels of experience. A minimum of 0.5 FTE is required for part time positions and some prior experience in ED (at RMO or registrar level) is required.

Emergency Medicine – Service Registrar – Northam
This position provides excellent exposure to a diverse range of emergency presentations and procedures whilst working as part of a small team in a mixed paediatric and adult emergency department (ED). The 16-bed ED is staffed by a mix of FACEMs, experienced rural hospitalists as well as junior medical officers seconded from metropolitan hospitals.
To be successful you will need to hold AHPRA registration and demonstrate a minimum of six months experience in Emergency Medicine at registrar level. This role will be highly rewarding as you will develop skills that can only come from working within a rural context. This position is accredited with ACRRM for Advanced Skills Training (AST) and with RACGP for Extended Skills Training (EST).
