Job Description
Redcliffe Hospital Emergency Department is seeking applications for the position of ED Registrar/PHO or Ultrasound Special Skills Placement, for the remainder of 2026 and 2027.
ED Registrar/PHO position can be at full-time or part-time.
Ultrasound position is a full-time role - 0.5 FTE in USS + 0.5 FTE in ED. Rostered in an alternating week in USS, week in ED.
- ASUM accredited (for units in BELS, EFAST, AAA, Lungs) ultrasound special skills term in a busy department with good case-mix. ACEM accredited for two registrars per 6-month term.
- Ultrasound learning is protected – trainees are not expected to get involved in other floor duties on ultrasound days. Good patient cohort allowing utilisation of POCUS at the bedside in multiple modalities and procedures. Will be able to develop proficiency in diagnostic POCUS scans but also procedures such as nerve blocks. Easy to review scans as images are automatically uploaded onto hospital PACS.
- Supervised by two leads (Dr Dass, Dr Loke) to ensure a good breadth of learning. Supported by multiple FACEMs with CCPUs in the ultrasound faculty.

About Redcliffe Hospital
Redcliffe Hospital ED is a mixed paediatric and adult urban district ED that sees more than 75,000 patients a year, of which more than 25% are paediatric. The department is accredited for 36 months of ED training, as well as for the paediatric logbook. Physically distinct paediatric and adult ED, but mixed model of care with staff doing shifts in both departments. We have a group of more than 34 FACEMS and 32 FTE registrar positions.
Redcliffe hospital is in the northern seaside suburb of Redcliffe, an easy commute from central Brisbane. We have a dedicated group of FACEMs to create a supportive environment, and there is a strong support for education with protected Thursday afternoon registrar teaching, primary exam teaching program, fellowship exam teaching program, and an on-site simulation and skills centre.

Remuneration
- Pro-rata and depending on level of experience and qualification (L4 – L9)
