About the Hospital

Joondalup Health Campus (JHC), managed by Ramsay Health Care, is one of Australia’s largest hospitals, located in Perth’s northern suburbs just minutes from the coast and 25 minutes from the CBD.

The 80‑bed Urban District Emergency Department manages over 90,000 presentations annually, including approximately 20–25,000 children under 16 years. The department has a strong multidisciplinary culture, established relationships with Perth Children’s Hospital for tertiary transfers, and a proven ACEM‑accredited advanced training program.

About the Role

Joondalup Health Campus is seeking a Consultant Emergency Department Physician to join the department with a leadership appointment as Deputy Head of Department – Paediatric Stream.

This role provides clinical and governance leadership for the dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department, overseeing the care of children aged 0–16 years across the full spectrum of Paediatric Emergency Medicine. The position works closely with ED clinicians, paediatricians, neonatologists, nursing leadership and specialty teams including Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery and ENT.

The role includes an appropriate allocation of non‑clinical time to support leadership, education, service development and clinical governance responsibilities within a collaborative and supportive department.

About the Role

  • Dedicated 12‑bed Paediatric Emergency Department
  • Strong senior nursing support and a dedicated Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Experienced FACEM colleagues, PEM specialists and Paediatricians
  • Engaged Junior Medical staff and a successful ACEM‑accredited training program (24 months urban district, paediatric logbook supported)
  • Access to ASUM ultrasound supervision for completion of CCPU requirements
  • Established transfer pathways to Perth Children’s Hospital

Essential Criteria

  • Specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine and/or Paediatric Emergency Medicine
    (FACEM, FACEM‑PEM, FRACP‑PEM)
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with an interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to clinical governance, education and Ramsay Health Care values

Additional Information

  • National Police Check (within the last 12 months) required
  • Working With Children Check and immunisation evidence required
