2026 Rural and Remote Special Skills Position – ACEM Accredited (for non ED) - Tennant Creek Hospital
Do you want to practice high acuity medicine, in a young population, as part of a small dynamic team?    80% of your patients will be Indigenous, there are no inpatient teams and you are 500km from the nearest CT scanner! Tennant Creek is a town of 5000, 500km north of Alice Springs in the vast Northern Territory outback. Tennant Creek hospital is a 20 bed rural hospital with a modern emergency department.  We have 14000 Emergency presentations per year, and 6600 admissions per year reflecting the high acuity of presentations. A special skills position in Rural and Remote medicine is available which has 6 months accreditation as a Category A Special Skills post for ACEM training. Alice Springs Hospital Emergency Registrars 2026
Alice Springs Hospital is recruiting for Emergency Registrars and SRMOs for 2026, with 3-12 month contracts available (longer contracts available by negotiation). We offer a unique experience in Aboriginal Health - practising high acuity medicine in a young population where 80% patients are Aboriginal.  You will see rheumatic heart disease, bronchiectasis, chronic liver disease, overwhelming sepsis, high rates or renal disease and diabetes as well as significant trauma.   We service an area of over 1 million km2 with around 50000 presentations a year with a 42% admission rate, median age of 34 years and 22% paediatric presentations. The ED has Tier 2 and Training stage 4 accreditation for non-major referral ACEM ED training, including your paediatric log book/ PER, and offers a supportive training environment.  FACEMs are on the floor from 0730 till 2400 7 days a week. The Central Australian Retrieval Service covers an area of 1.6 million square kilometres and performs 800 fixed wing and road retrievals per year (28% critical care), ranging from pre-hospital primary missions to long distance critical care inter-hospital transfers. The combination of pathology and geography presents a unique challenge. You will see some of the most interesting and challenging medicine in Australia, including: Severe sepsis in both adults and children requiring commencement of critical care treatment in remote nurse only clinics before transport. Tennant Creek Hospital - Blended Supervision Core ED rotation
Blended Supervision Pilot – ACEM Accredited for Core ED time - Tennant Creek Hospital – Pilot project available for 6 month rotation in 2025   Do you want to practice high acuity medicine, in a young population, as part of a small dynamic team?    80% of your patients will be Indigenous, there are no inpatient teams and you are 500km from the nearest CT scanner!   Tennant Creek is a town of 5000, 500km north of Alice Springs in the vast Northern Territory outback. Tennant Creek hospital is a 20 bed rural hospital with a modern emergency department.  We have 14000 Emergency presentations per year, and 6600 admissions per year reflecting the high acuity of presentations.   A Core ED 6 months accredited term is being trialled as part of a blended supervision project.  This means that you will be supervised on a daily basis by the FACRRMs on the ground in Tennant Creek – as well as receive regular remote supervision from the DEMTs in Alice Springs....
