With over 115,000 adult and paediatric patients per year, our Emergency Department located at Middlemore Hospital, is one of the busiest in Australasia. We are situated in a lower socio economic area and serve a high need population with high acuity presentations. We also provide secondary and tertiary care to patients from around the country and Pacific Islands and our National Burns Centre is also based on site at Middlemore. We see around 28,000 children per year and have a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department which is co-located with our Adult Department. Children and adolescents (under 18) are triaged to this department and we have dedicated resuscitation areas, procedure rooms, short stay area and assessment areas. We provide inpatient admissions for Paediatric Medicine, paediatric orthopaedics and short stay ICU patients. Our Emergency Department has been accredited for 6 months paediatric emergency medicine training by the Joint ACEM/ RACP training committee. We have some great opportunities to join our dynamic team as a Fellow for 2019-2020. As an ideal candidate for this Fellowship position, you will be a Senior Paediatric or Adult Emergency Medicine Trainee or Junior Specialist who is looking to advance your skills and acquire new skills. We would be interested in Emergency Medicine trainees from NZ, Australia, UK, USA, Canada or other countries with comparable EM training. You should be either registered or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
