Auckland DHB has three major facilities: Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children's Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre. Auckland City Hospital is New Zealand’s largest public hospital as well as the largest clinical research facility. There are approximately one million patient contacts each year, including hospital and outpatient services.

We have approximately 11,000 health and medical staff employed which equates to nearly 9,200 full-time equivalent positions and we manage a budget of approximately $2.1 billion. Auckland DHB is the largest trainer of doctors in New Zealand, with approximately 1,800 medical staff.

Adult Emergency Department is an outstanding facility with a fantastic case mix that ensures you are able to practice emergency medicine at the highest level. We are actively involved in clinical and university based teaching ( including the ACME course, ACLS, Ultrasound, ED thoracotomy and difficult airway courses) and are currently involved in a number of key national and international research projects. We would be interested in EM trainees from NZ,Australia UK ,USA ,Canada or other countries with comparable EM training.  You should be either registered or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.   Our Fellow positions are accredited by ACEM as Emergency Medicine Advanced training or Special skills training posts.
