Emergency Medicine Registrar - (commencing Feb 2022)

The RMH Emergency Department is Victoria’s busiest Adult Emergency Department, a quaternary level referral service and trauma centre.  The RMH is part of the Parkville precinct consisting of the RMH, VCCC, RWH, RCH, University of Melbourne, Walter and Elisa Hall and the Doherty Institutes, which together create world class opportunities for collaboration and research in many areas and adds to the diversity of patients presenting to the RMH ED.

Positioned as it is, the RMH receives patients from the fastest growing areas of Melbourne, as well as satellite cities further afield. Comprising of 52-beds including a co-located 20-bed Short Stay and 6-bed Behavioural Assessment Unit.  The RMH ED sees >90,000 presentations per year.

Case mix at the RMH is varied and complex, patients often have multi-system disease with significant and complex co-morbidities. Approximately 66% of patients are ATS triage category 1-3 and the admission rate for patients is >50%.
