With your own professional development being supported, you in turn will provide assistance to registrars, resident medical officers, interns and students alike. An interest in public and Indigenous Health would be well suited to this role as well as the flexibility to commit to out of ordinary hours and an on-call roster. In a full-time position, you will work on an 8-on, 6-off roster. Part-time positions are also available, working 8-on and 20-off. On offer is a very generous salary package, you will earn from $457,000 per year to well above $600,000 depending on experience. You will also receive paid accommodation, 5 weeks of annual leave per annum, professional development leave of 3.6 weeks per annum and transfer and appointment expenses. The Hospital This Level 4 hospital has a total of 80 beds and offers primary, secondary and community health services in addition to specialist services such as anaesthetics, paediatrics, psychiatry, surgery and obstetrics & gynaecology. The hospital also hosts a range of clinics in speciality and sub-specialty services. The Hospital Approximately 46,000 patients a year, of which about 30 per cent are children. Interesting range of medicine - Rheumatic heart disease, bronchiectasis, chronic liver disease, renal disease, and diabetes are all prevalent, in a young population (median age 34). Trauma is common, with motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), truncal and thigh stabbings, and blunt trauma from assault. Indigenous Australians account for 78 per cent of attendances. Registrars are predominantly ACEM trainees, with a number of General Practitioner/Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) trainees, many of whom undertake the Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma. This is reflected in an admission rate that is also climbing (currently 26-27%). Paediatric presentations account for approximately 28% of attendances. In recent years the ED has expanded with completion of a separate Fast Track area and also SSU. Accredited with the ACEM for 12 months of advanced training, there are a number of Emergency Department certificate and diploma candidates working within the health service.
