We also operate Sunbury Day Hospital, Hazeldean, Grant Lodge Residential Aged Care, as well as community health centres in Melton, Caroline Springs and Bacchus Marsh and a range of community-based services. We care for a diverse community of more than 1 million people with complex care needs ranging from Neonates to Geriatrics.

Our teaching hospitals are affiliated with the University of Melbourne School of Medicine.

It’s a time of exciting growth at Western Health, with the $1.5 Billion new Footscray Hospital project  due to open in 2025 and the Sunshine Hospital Emergency Department expansion completed and three times the size of the previous department. With the new Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s at Sunshine Hospital we are on track to become the state’s second largest maternity hospital this year.

Both Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital have Emergency Departments accredited for Emergency medicine training by ACEM with a combined patient census of over 120 000. Sunshine ED is also accredited for Paediatric EM training.
