The Townsville University Hospital is Australia’s northernmost tertiary facility. We are a mixed ED caring for 85,000 presentations per annum with a 30% admission rate. Paediatric patients account for 20-25% of ED presentations, and we have a newly opened 12-bed paediatric ED space. We are the primary referral centre for North Queensland and beyond.
We are accredited for 24 months ED time as a major referral centre. We can offer external rotations in Adult ICU, Paediatric ICU, Anaesthetics, and Hyperbaric Medicine. ACEM accredited special skills rotations include Remote and Indigenous Health (at Palm Island Hospital) and Ultrasound. Other non-ED terms can be organised if desired. Townsville ED also has strong links with LifeFlight Retrieval Medicine.
We have dedicated primary and fellowship teaching programs, with high recent success rates.
We offer a mentoring program and flexible rostering to accommodate full time and part time employees with commitments outside of work and have great access to leave.
Relocation packages are available.
