An excellent opportunity has arisen at Lyell McEwin Hospital for a Medical Practitioner with drive and initiative to join a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team. With state of the art facilities, the Lyell McEwin Hospital is fast becoming a major tertiary facility. It has close links with the local community that it serves and is dedicated to fostering a culture of trust, integrity and respect. In this integral role, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical assessment and treatment for patients attending the Emergency Department in consultation with the shift Consultants, Night Team Leaders, and in cooperation with Nursing and Allied Health professionals. You will liaise with other services of NALHN, other health providers in the community and hospital sector as well as with the broader community in the pursuit of comprehensive patient care. Furthermore, you will be actively involved in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and continuing education activities.


Instrumental to success in this role is a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, and you will be registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. Your clinical experience in Emergency Medical setting will be evident by your demonstrated clinical skills and your current knowledge of Emergency Medicine including skill requirements, procedures, equipment and the clinical implementation of Emergency equipment. You will possess a high level of skill in negotiation and communication, combined with skill in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level. In addition, you will bring the ability to liaise with people from all walks of life, diverse cultures and backgrounds.
