An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic, challenging and fun Hospital and Health Service in far North Queensland.

The North West Hospital and Health Service is looking for an Emergency Medicine clinician to join our team, based in Mount Isa.

The role is a challenging, interesting and diverse one; with provision of emergency care to patients in a well-equipped rural ED accredited with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for training in Emergency Medicine.

You will also provide professional leadership to medical staff within the department, and be actively involved in further education and training programs, in collaboration with ACEM, for our workforce.

If you are seeking to make a difference and impact upon healthcare for patients in some of the most challenging areas in Australia, this could be the role for you.

Wide open spaces and panoramic views; the NWHHS covers a total population of around 36,000 people living in a geographical area spanning 300,000 km2!

We have a number of critical industrial facilities in the region and a patient cohort that represents some of the challenges and casemix diversities that clinicians may not have encountered in previous roles.

This will be a fast-paced, complex and active role where you can make a difference every day; and is well-suited to a clinician with an interest in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, O&G, Remote Medicine or A&TSI Health.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and experienced clinician who is looking for a change in direction, an opportunity to enhance existing skills and who is not afraid to ‘roll up their sleeves’.

Generous remuneration package available (L13-L27) with an attraction and retention allowance of 50% of base annual salary, a rural and regional allowance of 15% of base annual salary, an inaccessibility allowance of up to $35,714 per annum, and an  Emergency Department specialist allowance (if appointed at the specialist level) of 25% base annual salary (appointment level will be dependant upon qualifications, skills and experience). Flexible rosters and FIFO options available.

If you are interested in this role and the opportunities available with the NWHHS, please call Dr Uli Orda (Director, Emergency Department) in the first instance for an informal discussion on 07 4744 4444.

Applications close on Monday 13 December 2021.
