The Hospital

St John of God Hawkesbury District Health Service located in the Northwest of Sydney provides inpatient and emergency services to residents of the Hawkesbury and surrounding districts for public (under agreement with Nepean Blue Mountains LHD) and private patients. The Hospital has 120 beds and 4 Operating Theatres and the Emergency Department sees 26,000 patients per year.

The Emergency Department is staffed by ED Specialists, CMOs, RMOs, and PGY1 and 2 Doctors. Patients are admitted under Specialists in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The wards are staffed by Medical, Surgical and Orthopaedic Registrars, CMOs, RMOs, and PGY1 and 2 Doctors.

The Position

In this role, you will provide leadership and management to the Emergency Department along with participating in clinical shifts. You will be part of the wider Hospital Management structure. You will possess appropriate General and Specialist registration with AHPRA, as well as significant relevant clinical experience.

This position will be offered on a permanent full time basis but applications for a part time role will be considered.

The successful candidate will have:

  • General registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA.
  • Specialist registration as an Emergency Physician with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience in management roles within an Emergency Department or previous role as a ED Director
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality management and continuing medical education and training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control.
  • Have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care and to act in accordance with the standards of behaviour outlined in our Code of conduct.
  • Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
