Job Description

Total of 24 months accredited training available combining both work across the public and private sectors.

One year to be completed at the Sydney Adventist Hospital as follows:

  • Six month rotations in combined Ultrasound and Urban District ED - 3 months accredited ultrasound (supervisor Dr Vijay Manivel). 3 months accredited ED.
  • Six month rotations in Anaesthetics/Urban District ED (accredited as Core Critical Care) - 3 months accredited Anaesthetics, 3 months accredited ED.

All posts are ACEM accredited including paediatric log book  PLUS

  • Four hours per week paid protected teaching time
  • Two days protected non-clinical directly supervised ultrasound training

CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION:

Trainee in Emergency Medicine (ACEM)

One year to be completed at the Nepean Hospital as follows:

One year to be completed at Nepean Hospital with rotations available in ICU, paediatrics, obstetrics and medical education. Nepean hospital is a busy tertiary public hospital which receives high acuity patients including significant neonatal, paediatric and adult resuscitation and trauma, allowing for acquisition of procedural skills and emergency department management skills.

The established ultrasound training available here will also allow for continuity of case acquisition under the same supervisor as the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Education across both Sydney Adventist hospital as well as Nepean hospital is also co-ordinated to ensure optimal preparation for fellowship examinations.

Nepean hospital will be opening its new department in 2022 which will see a dedicated paediatric emergency department operating, allowing for greater accumulation of patients for the paediatric portfolio, with supervision available by PEM trained specialists.

An added benefit in this two year contract is the preservation of all NSW Health leave entitlements during the time you are employed at the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Pay during the time you are employed at Nepean Hospital will be in line with NSW Health registrar pay scale.
