Job Description

Peninsula Health Emergency Services offers a wide range of opportunities for Registrars, trainees and non-trainees, those wanting to complete their EMC/EMD and a range of early to late advanced training positions.  We have a strong supportive culture based in our team based model. Our team based model of care will exposure you to Resuscitation, Fast Track, Paediatrics and Short Stay/Observation Medicine. This enables registrars to care for our diverse patient mix and the opportunity to obtain numerous skills managing complex medical and critically unwell patients and procedural skills such as  Intubation and central lines.

We have:

  • 24 months accreditation
  • 5 hours protected teaching time
  • Teaching programs for
    • Primary with separate dedicated written and VIVA programs
    • Fellowship preparation program with separate dedicated written and OSCE components
  • EMC and EMD with experienced teachers
  • Regular Sim Centre training on site
  • Highly valued mentorship program
  • Part time and Full time positions available

External Rotations include:

  • Anaesthetics
  • Intensive Care
  • Paediatrics
  • Cardiology
  • Psychiatry
  • Tertiary rotation to a Major Trauma Centre

We have a dedicated Ultrasound faculty who provide; monthly ED POCUS Educational Webinars, regular newsletter “Sonic Boom’ and podcasts, and our experienced ultrasound clinicians are available to assist build your US experience on the floor and the CCPU.

There are currently 40 consultants working in the Emergency Department supporting across both sites. We are accredited by ACEM for 2 years of Advance Vocational training at Frankston ED, while Rosebud ED is accredited by ACEM for 6 months.  Both EDs are well staffed by FACEMs, Trainees, HMOs and Interns. Peninsula Health Emergency Medicine has a strong educational program with and excellent track record; access to knowledgeable exam teachers and 3 experienced ACEM examiners.
