The Prince Charles Hospital is the premier quaternary Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Respiratory Centre for the region. The hospital boasts subspecialist programs such as heart and lung transplantation and Adult Cystic Fibrosis as well as General Medicine, Surgery and Psychiatry.
The Children’s Emergency Department sees over 32,000 children annually with a dedicated Children’s ED Short Stay Unit and General Paediatrics ward.
The Australasian College of Emergency Medicine accredits the Children’s ED for 6 months and the Paediatric Ward for 6 months of advanced training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
These positions are also suitable for RACP trainees seeking subspecialist training in this emerging field of Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
A team of three DEMT’s (two Adult and one Paediatric) coordinate a dedicated protected education, with rostered structured and streamed programmes provide specific preparation for ACEM primary and fellowship exams, both written and OSCE, with very high success rates.
Weekly onsite simulations in paediatric department.
Focused Paediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Exam Preparation Regional Program
PEM pathway: Rotations including Paediatric Emergency, Adult Emergency, General Paediatrics and secondment to Paediatric ICU and Emergency at Queensland Children’s Hospital.
