Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health) is in an active phase and growth of its new and dynamic emergency service. We are offering positions to suitably qualified senior ACEM registrars (e.g. training time or exam near-completed) with a guaranteed pathway into a staff specialist position OR to suitable fellowship-qualified medical practitioners seeking a career in regional emergency medicine (e.g. ACCRM core or rural generalist qualified). Please note these are senior positions, not suitable for HMO or junior registrar staff.

GV Health is an important regional emergency service – with 43,500 annual attendances and a varied and very interesting case mix, including regional trauma and paediatric services. Typical of regional settings, the hospital has little of the bureaucracy of large centres and has reasonable patient flow and access. Salary and conditions are above award and are generous, reflecting the developmental phase of our emergency services rebuild. All specialists have 20% non-clinical time. Shift structure is civilised, and part-time appointments are available to our specialists. Relocation assistance is provided for full-time staff, and travel compensation and accommodation are available for part time staff travelling from metro or other regional areas.

Emergency Department: The ED has undergone the bulk of a major rebuild (for completion in 2021). The new facility is state of the art (including dedicated CT, Imaging, Short Stay, Paediatrics, Mental Health).
Leadership: GV Health has undergone many changes in recent years with new and progressive leaders at CEO, CMO, executive and divisional levels.
A focus on building a high performing team – roles currently being sourced include:
Critical Care: A newly built 10 bed ICU, accredited for training. Currently recruiting Intensivists. FACEM joint appointments or fractional ICU placement is an option.
Senior Medical Staff Development: We have recently recruited an additional 0.5 DMS with a focus on organisational improvement strategies and patient flow improvement.
GV Health Specialist Training Program: A new half-time position is now being recruited for a Director of Specialist Training. (FACEM candidates may apply)
Melbourne University Appointments: GV Health is affiliated with Melbourne University (local campus) and clinical, academic & honorary positions are accessible depending on candidate qualifications and experience.
Partner Support: We can potentially look to support partners of new staff to find employment (at GV Health or connect in with other local organisations)
