Position available for Advanced Trainees to undertake a Rural and Remote special skills term with options to link with tertiary Emergency Department or critical care term.
Geraldton Hospital is the major centre in the Midwest district of WA. The ED sees approximately 35,000 presentations/year including a large proportion of paediatrics and Indigenous patients, with high acuity and an admission rate of about 22%.
A highly varied case-mix will give you many opportunities to gain hands-on procedural skills and a broad clinical experience. Rostering is very flexible and includes weekly protected education time. Opportunities to complete the 4:10 requirements are also available.
The ED is also the local referral centre for patient transfers from surrounding smaller facilities and is often involved in the provision of critical care and stabilisation of patients prior to aeromedical retrieval to tertiary centres.
Geraldton is part of WA’s Coral Coast, and is world renowned for an extensive host of water sports including spectacular kitesurfing, windsurfing, fishing and diving. The Abrolhos Islands are 70km off shore and have many fantastic diving and snorkelling locations. Nearby National Parks are great for hiking and camping.
Remuneration: Registrar Year 1-7, $130,145 to $174,823 pa (includes base salary $109,678 to $150,479 pa, professional Development allowance $10,048 pa and 9.50% employer contributed Superannuation). Rates as at October 2018.
