Auckland is New Zealand's largest, diverse and most popular city, nestled on one of the world’s best harbours. It offers a metropolitan lifestyle mixed with the great outdoors; from cafes and restaurants to our stunning beaches, parks and marinas providing a beautiful natural landscape that we Kiwis are proud of.
Counties Manukau Health, based in South Auckland is the largest of New Zealand’s District Health Boards by population and a significantly large employer in the Counties Manukau district, providing jobs for more than 7,000 people across the region.
Our people are a large part of the community we serve which makes us passionate about the health of the people living in it. We are a team of talented individuals working together to make a positive difference to the people we serve, to the communities we work in, and to each other.
With over 110,000 adult and paediatric patients per year our Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital is one of the busiest in Australasia. Middlemore Hospital is situated in a lower socio economic area and serves a high need population with high acuity presentations.
Counties Manukau Health is a dynamic and progressive organisation that offers and innovative and transformative approach to delivering more effective services and better outcomes for our people, families and communities.
The Kidz-First Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital sees around 27000 children per year. 5 years ago it was granted accreditation from both the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Paediatric Joint Training Committee (PJTC) for 6 months of Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) training.
We have a great opportunity for a PEM specialist to join our dynamic team. The long term strategic goal for our mixed adult and paediatric Emergency Department (ED) and Department of Paediatrics is to move from a mixed ED model to a separate Paediatric focused and governed ED.
We are involved in research through the Predict network and have a number of active studies currently.
