(1) – Temporary Consultants in Emergency Medicine (2 posts)
Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown is an academic teaching hospital in Dublin, Ireland providing a range of services to a diverse population covering the communities of West Dublin, North Kildare and South County Meath.
Connolly serves a catchment area of 330,000 in one of the youngest, fastest-growing and most ethnically diverse areas of Ireland. We have a number of specialist services on-site including, general surgery, plastic surgery, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, rheumatology, dermatology, neurology, respiratory and cardiology. We have a dedicated multidisciplinary geriatric team who provide in house support to the Emergency Department and are a stroke thrombolysis centre. There are Emergency Advanced Nurse Practitioners in Minor Injuries, Rapid Assessment and Treatment and Emergency Cardiology. The Cardiology Advanced Nurse Practitioner and two chest pain nurses operate a rapid access chest pain assessment clinic on a daily basis.
We are looking for enthusiastic consultants to join our Emergency Medicine Team. The successful applicants will join an experienced, committed and established team of 5 W.T.E Emergency Medicine Consultant providing consultant-led care to over 44,000 adult patients per year. Our Consultants have a diverse range of specialist interests including intensive care medicine, ultrasound, simulation, prehospital care, major incident planning and medical education.
Our Emergency Medicine Consultants are supported by an EM multidisciplinary workforce comprising of 11 registrars, 10 SHOs, two interns, 3 GPs, 5 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and 2 chest pain nurses. We provide training, education and supervision to Core and Advanced
emergency medicine trainees, Medical and GP trainees and are a teaching hospital for RCSI Medical Students, Nursing Students, Physician Associates, Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics and Advanced Paramedics.
Now is an exciting time to join our team as we have approved plans
to redevelop our ED with a new 5 bedded resus and isolation room and have recently acquired a dedicated ambulatory care unit. There are lots of great opportunities at Connolly Hospital to become involved in service development, teaching, education and training and we would welcome suitably qualified applicants with the drive and energy to join us.
