Under Consultant supervision, you will provide comprehensive, effective and efficient Paediatric Emergency Services to inpatients and outpatients of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. Managing the care of all emergency presentations and Extended Care Unit inpatients, you will be responsible for the coordination of investigations, supervision of RMOs and Registrars, discussion with patients and families, liaison with statutory authorities and patient discharge. You will participate in the Department’s teaching and continuing education program, and contribute to the quality management activities within the Department as directed and supervised by the Clinical Head. Along with taking part in Departmental research activities, it is expected that you will participate in the after-hours on-call roster with Consultant back up. The Women’s & Children’s Hospital is a centre of paediatric excellence, and is committed to family focused models of care delivery. You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent, and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration. With clinical experience and competence in the practice of paediatric emergency medicine, you will possess clinical skills appropriate for the duties performed in the work unit. A team player who can work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment, you will be skilled in communicating effectively with patients and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
