As the longest established Emergency Department in Victoria, we provide care to over 75,000 patients each year

As an Emergency Registrar in our department, you will work as part of an enthusiastic and dynamic team, intent on providing safe, timely and quality care to its patients.

 With all of the major specialties, an exposure to major trauma and marine toxinology, there is plenty of stimulating work to go around.

And when you’re not working, there’s the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula to explore.

 

NON-ED ROTATIONS

ICU registrar

ICU HMO

Anaesthetic HMO

Paediatric registrar

Paediatric HMO

O+G HMO

Medical registrar

Rural and Remote Registrar

  • 2 days per week in urgent care
  • 1.5 days per week in theatre with GP anaesthetist
  • 0.5 days audit
  • No nights/weekends

Rotation to St John of God Hospital, Geelong

Secondment to Alice Springs

Rotations to Alfred or Royal Melbourne Hospital to further your trauma experience

 

 

ACEM TRAINING

Accredited for Paediatric Logbook

5 hours paid teaching time per week

Annual success in Primary and Fellowship exams owing to robust study programs - including Dr Tom Reade's Fellowship Written program

Established Emergency Medicine Education and Training program with ability to complete the Emergency Medicine Certificate and Diploma and participate in providing telehealth to the region

Structured WBA rostering

Ultrasound credentialing

Access to multiple consultants holding various college roles and roles within DHHS and the Coroner's Court of Victoria

 

 

REGISTRAR WELLBEING

Well established mentor program

Peer Support Program for ED staff

Flexible rostering to assist in maintaining work/life balance

 

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

1.  Registered with or eligible for registration as a medical doctor with AHPRA

2.  Have completed Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in Australia

OR

     Eligible for employment via the competent authority pathway (graduates from UK, Ireland, NZ, USA, Canada)

OR

     Completed both parts of the Australian Medical Council exams if applying via the standard pathway (graduates from all other countries)

3.  Have at least 2 years post graduate experience

4.  Have worked in the field of Emergency Medicine for at least 30 weeks

5.  Can provide evidence that you exhibit high standards of professional behaviour: integrity, punctuality, reliability, ethical practice

6.  Have successfully passed the English Language test if your qualification as a health practitioner was not taught and assessed in English

Desirable

1.  Registered with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine

2.  Have an intention to train as an Emergency Physician

3.  Possess a working knowledge of electronic references, digital radiology, digital images and bedside tests
