The Opportunity….

We are offering 12 months of accredited training- 6 months of ED Training and 6 months in ICU.

The Emergency Department is an Urban District Emergency Department accredited with ACEM for 6 months training and is currently led by 10 SMOs, 6 of whom are FACEMs.

This position is well suited for provisional as well as advanced ACEM trainees. Trainees have regular protected education days and we encourage each patient interaction to be a teaching opportunity. This means that it is straightforward to accomplish the required Emergency Medicine Workplace-based Assessments (EM-WBAs).  The rostering is flexible and written to suit your lifestyle. There is minimal night duty.  We also offer the Emergency Medicine Certificate and Emergency Medicine Diploma.

We believe that working in the private sector should be a core part of the Emergency Medicine training curriculum. This gives the trainees the opportunity to also learn what is not taught in the text books. We also offer mentoring as it is beneficial to foster your career development, job satisfaction and work life balance.

Intensive Care is more suited for the advanced trainee.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have completed the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  • Have current and relevant registration with AHPRA;
  • Be a member of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM);
  • Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality medical outcomes; and
  • Have well-developed and effective cross-department relationship management skills.

New Hospital….new Emergency Department

Opening in 2019, the Emergency Department will be relocating to the brand-new Calvary Adelaide Hospital.  Centrally located at 120 Angus Street in the heart of Adelaide’s Central Business District, its state-of-the-art facilities will be supported by Calvary’s history of health care excellence in South Australia over almost 120 years.

The new Calvary Adelaide Hospital is a 12-story facility that will include the 24-hour Emergency Department, 344 In-patient beds, 66 day patient beds, 2 floors of Interventional and Procedure suites, 16 operating theatres and much more……the Calvary Adelaide Hospital will provide the highest quality health care to private and self-insured patients.

The new Emergency Department will feature contemporary design and cutting-edge medical technology, whilst offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and rehabilitation services.

Amazing Adelaide

South Australia and its capital city Adelaide is the most liveable state in Australia. Big enough to have all of the fabulous fine dining, cafes and facilities expected in a big city but small enough to enjoy a very high quality of life:

  • Real estate is affordable when compared with other states and capital cities
  • There are vast green spaces and facilities for people from all walks of life
  • Outstanding schools around every corner
  • Travelling around our city is easy, no peak hour traffic to speak of, and you can be in most places within 20 minutes!
  • Most exciting is that Adelaide is on the move – now is the time to relocate – it is the place to be!
