Exciting Opportunity: Emergency Department Education Registrar – Joondalup Health Campus

Are you passionate about medical education and looking to make a meaningful impact in emergency medicine? Join the Joondalup ED team as our Emergency Department Education Registrar and help shape the future of emergency care education in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development
Collaborate with experienced educators and clinicians to design and deliver engaging teaching content. You’ll help coordinate weekly educational sessions (e.g. VBGs, ECGs, CXRs, clinical cases), organise hands-on workshops (e.g. Team Leader School, ACUTE), and contribute to a well-rounded emergency medicine curriculum.

Formal Education Pathway
Pursue a Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education (or equivalent) with all costs fully funded by the hospital. You’ll be supported throughout by an experienced Education Consultant to help you succeed.

Simulation-Based Learning
Develop and deliver high-fidelity simulation sessions alongside expert facilitators, replicating real-world emergency scenarios to enhance clinical training.

Flexible Roster
Enjoy a work-life balanced roster with minimal night shifts, giving you time to focus on both your personal life and your educational development.

Position Summary

  • Duration: 12-month appointment
  • FTE: 0.5 FTE Education Special Skills + Clinical component
  • Portfolio: Complete an education logbook and project in line with ACEM requirements
  • Supervision: Support from FACEMs with expertise in education and simulation
  • Clinical Duties: Clinical shifts involving patient care, junior doctor supervision, and staff support

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Registered with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Late phase Advanced Trainee with ACEM (or equivalent)
  • Experience in delivering medical education and clinical supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ongoing participation in CPD and performance reviews
  • Familiarity with the Australian Curriculum Framework for junior doctors

Desirable

  • Proven leadership in emergency settings, including decision-making and flow management
  • Commitment to quality improvement and patient outcomes
  • Continued professional development in acute care (e.g. ALS, APLS, EMST)
