The Wide Bay area is arguably one of the most beautiful regions of Queensland. The Health Service stretches from Agnes Water in the North to Maryborough in the South and provides acute care services to a population of over 200,000 residents including several rural communities.

Bundaberg Emergency Department is a large Queensland rural centre serving a major catchment area. We see over 50,000 attendances per year, with a significant trauma and resuscitation load.

We are accredited for 12 months training in Emergency Medicine and also have accredited Anaesthetic, Paediatric and ICU terms, allowing a complete training experience.

There is a dedicated Fellowship program with regular teaching and upskilling as well as Fellowship Examination preparation teaching. Our 100% success rate in the last two sittings of the Written Exam is evidence of our commitment to education.

Along with the excellent case-mix and significant training program, there are also many leisure activities within the Wide Bay area. The region is a must for camping, boating and fishing and an attraction for foodies with award winning local cafes. The Great Barrier Reef and Whale Watching is at our doorstep and less than an hour flight from Brisbane and 20 minutes from the beautiful Bargara Beach, there’s a lot to do in the Wide Bay region.
