St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital is a Private not-for-profit health service delivering excellence in health care. Our ED is at our flagship site, Spring Hills in Brisbane, a 250-bed acute hospital with inpatient services across most specialties including ICU, Anaesthetics, Cardiology, Orthopaedics/Spinal , Neurosurgery, General and Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic, Gastroenterology, Thoracic Medicine, General Medicine and Rehabilitation.
We are a highly regarded 13-bed department operational for more than 20 years, with attendances of 11,000 per annum and a 35% admission rate. The team includes a friendly and dynamic group of specialists who provide on the floor supervision. Their focus is on delivering high quality clinical care that exceeds patients expectations. The teaching opportunities are enthusiastically utilised and a comprehensive approach to Workplace Based Assessments (WBA) making it easy to obtain the required number for training purposes.
The successful candidate may have the opportunity for ICU rotation at our sister hospital The Wesley Private Hospital from Feb & Aug 2020.The Wesley ICU is one of the busiest private Intensive care in QLD with CICM accreditation for 12 month for ICU/ACEM trainees.
We have a successful dedicated Fellowship teaching program run in collaboration with Royal Brisbane & Women’s hospital each Thursday by an enthusiastic, supportive teaching team offering exposure to senior college examiners. Successful applicants will be legally qualified medical practitioners registered in Australia, possessing appropriate medical qualifications (MBBS or equivalent) AND currently advance trainees with Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM).
