Job Description

Mildura Base Hospital is looking to recruit Emergency Medicine Trainees and/or Registrar. We are ideally looking for Advanced Trainees to enhance our existing Trainee group, but we are willing to discuss positions with any currently registered Trainee who may be looking for a lifestyle change, combined with the ability to continue their training.

Mildura is a busy regional centre that services a population of 80,000 and our Emergency Department receives an interesting and diverse case mix, treating ~ 35,000 patients per annum (20% paediatric) with an admission rate of 16-20%. FACEM coverage is from 0830-2300 7 days per week. The department has 12 treatment bays, 3 fast track cubicles, 2 resuscitation bays and an 8 bed short stay unit.

Our Emergency Department is supported by surgical, medical, paediatric, obstetrics & gynaecology, psychiatric, anaesthetic and ICU services. We are a regional trauma centre and are well supported by Adult Retrieval Victoria.

We are currently staffed by 4 full-time FACEMs and have regular FACEM locums who provide additional clinical oversight. We are accredited for 6 months Advanced Training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, including paediatric log-book.

These positions offer:

  • Accredited FACEM training time.
  • Opportunity to expand your clinical practice in a rural setting.
  • Potential for non-ED rotations where available.
  • Dedicated and supportive team and excellent working environment.
  • Exposure to a relaxed country lifestyle
  • Ready access to Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide via direct flights from our regional airport
  • Opportunities to start ASAP.

The annual fulltime base wage is $112,678.80 - $155,090.00 - dependent upon years of service. Remuneration as per the current AMA Victoria - Victorian Public Health Sector - Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2018 - 2021.
