Auckland City Hospital is the largest Hospital in New Zealand, providing secondary and tertiary care to patients from around the country and Pacific Islands. Adult Emergency Department is an outstanding facility with a fantastic case mix that ensures you are able to practice emergency medicine at the highest level.

We are actively involved in clinical and university based teaching (including the ACME course, ACLS, Ultrasound, ED thoracotomy and difficult airway courses) and are currently involved in a number of key national and international research projects. There are excellent opportunities to grow your skills in high fidelity clinical simulation, toxicology, ultrasound research and retrieval medicine.

As an ideal candidate for this Fellow position, you will be a Senior Emergency Medicine Trainee or Junior Specialist who is looking to advance your skills and acquire new skills. We would be interested in EM trainees from NZ, Australia UK, USA, Canada or other countries with comparable EM training. You should be either registered or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. 

Our Fellow positions are accredited by ACEM as Emergency Medicine Advanced training or Special skills training posts. The Fellow positions that we have available are as follow:

  • Simulation (ACEM Special skills)
  • Medical Education (ACEM Advanced training)
  • Trauma Fellow (ACEM Advanced training)
  • Toxicology Fellow (ACEM Advanced training)
  • Ultrasound Fellow (ACEM Advanced training)
