Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Join our dynamic Emergency Department at Werribee Mercy Hospital. Recruiting Australian Residents/ International Medical Graduates holding a current valid working visa and AHPRA Registration for our February 2024 intake.

Be part of Werribee Mercy Hospital’s exciting future!  Our ED sees a varied case mix of approximately 48,000 patients per year with a 5% growth rate, including 20% paediatrics. There is a co-located 10-bed short stay unit managed by the ED, which we are aiming to expand. Planning is also well underway for the development of a new emergency department in the near future.

Our ED is ACEM accredited for 24 months advanced training in emergency medicine and we are known for our great team culture. As a registrar, you will be well supported by Emergency Physicians, with an active fellowship teaching and exam preparation program and there is plenty of scope for teaching junior doctors and medical students. Registrars are specifically rostered to the weekly teaching session to avoid clinical demands interfering with attendance. We have further education support and the opportunity to complete the Emergency Medicine Certificate and Emergency Medicine Diploma at our hospital.

Opportunities exists for 3-month ACEM accredited Anaesthetic rotations, and also 6 month ACEM accredited ICU rotations.

Our mixed ED is also accredited for the paediatric log book and we have 2 Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physicians on staff.

There is an opportunity for trainees who have completed their fellowship exams but are still needing further ED time, to be rostered on the consultant roster and participate in clinical support activities, to help their transition to consultant practice.

Registrar wage range from HM25 to HM30 ($2362.12 to $3251.22 per week)
