Our Emergency Departments have over 60,000 presentations per year with a greater than 20% admission rate and paediatric presentations of 25%.  AWH is a Regional Trauma Referral Centre dealing with the full spectrum of Emergency Care with trauma and resuscitation.

Our team continues to develop as we move to the opening of our new emergency department with 58 points of care in 2024.

You will be joining a team led by FACEMs that are committed to the ongoing development of emergency care on the border. There are exciting opportunities to not only continue to maintain your clinical skills as well as help develop our health service.

Training Opportunities

Our emergency department is accredited for 24 months of ACEM training, with opportunities to develop at all levels of training. The hands on experience is second to none with exposure to a wider ranging case-mix that is both acute and complex that will enhance your clinical skills. You will be joining a team of ACEM, RACGP and ACCRM trainees as well as several EMD and EMAD candidates that are supported by a passionate group of Emergency Specialists.

Our department has strong relationships with other disciplines and we can offer rotations to:

·         Intensive Care

·         Anaesthetics

·         Paediatrics

·         Medicine.

·         Ultrasound special skills post.

For those nearing the end of their training time, we are now offering fellowship positions aimed at enhancing your management skills to ensure you are ready to be a consultant with non-clinical opportunities in governance, education and administration as well as training in ultrasound.
