About the Role

This position is open for any PGY3+ doctor who is planning a career in ED, or considering a move to ED, as well as those who require time in ED as part of an application for another training program. Monash is Victoria’s Largest Healthcare provider, delivering care to one-quarter of Melbourne’s population across the entire lifespan. We are accredited for all aspects of FACEM training.The Monash Emergency Experience

  • Tertiary Emergency at Monash Medical Centre (Adults) and Monash Children’s Hospital
  •  Mixed Emergency Departments at Dandenong and Casey with on-site ICU and Anaesthetics
  •  The Victorian Heart Hospital Emergency Department 

The ED HMO role comprises of 6 month terms in one of our Emergency Departments, where you get a chance to become an integrated and valued member of the team while building skills for the next phase of your career

Training opportunities:

  • Complete 6 month rotations in one of our ED, as an eligibility criteria for ACEM application 
  • Undertake the ED Certificate and Diploma through one of our departments
  • Train in Point of Care Ultrasound through our free in-house program
  • Meet requirements for RACGP application in ED and Paediatrics
  • Effective measures to help get your work/life balance right
  • Monash Health has a strong commitment to supporting their staff through Flexible Work Arrangements
  • Monash Emergency can accommodate part time EFT within our emergency departments
  • Future careers in Emergency Medicine; many of our ED HMOs continue on as ED registrars, where you can complete every aspect of FACEM training in one network
