Bass Coast Health (BCH) is seeking to attract Clinical Director Emergency Medicine to provide contemporary emergency care to the South Gippsland & Bass Coast community and who aligns with our values WECARE.

BCH is a rapidly growing service that has recently completed a significantly expanded purposed built Emergency Department. With 28 treatment spaces, complemented by contemporary equipment and workspaces that are purpose built. Patient and staff space have an abundance of natural light and comfortable furnishings, including designated staff change area/s.
The emergency department has annual presentations of around 17,000, with 20% being paediatric and an overall admission rate of approximately 25%. Wonthaggi Emergency Department, provide telephone/telehealth support to our single doctor at Urgent Care Centre (UCC) in Cowes on Phillip Island as required. The UCC sees approximately 10,000 patients annually, predominantly with lower acuity conditions. The inpatient units comprise of an acute medical ward, elective surgery day admissions, geriatrics and rehabilitation, day infusion centre with oncology/haematology services, obstetrics, haemodialysis and Hospital in the Home.
BCH works collaboratively with Alfred Health and Monash Health and supports the Junior Medical Staff (JMS) rotation in Emergency Department. BCH also work with Austin Health and their ACEM trainees.
The Clinical Director will work with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide professional leadership and clinical guidance in relation to strategic and operational issues as required, and have a demonstrated interest in medical administration or clinical governance with a particular focus on:

Bass Coast Health (BCH) is the acute sub-regional hospital for the Bass Coast Shire, incorporating the Gippsland South Coast Community including Phillip Island. BCH also includes the Health Hub at Cowes with outpatient consulting services and an Urgent Care Centre (UCC), Residential Aged Care Services at Griffiths Point Lodge, San Remo and Kirrak House, Wonthaggi and Community Care services based at San Remo and Inverloch.
BCH is an easy 90min drive from Melbourne’s' Eastern Suburbs, and is home to magnificent beaches, wineries and just a short drive to well-known tourist attractions such as Phillip Island, the Bunurong Coastal Drive, and Wilsons Promontory.
Our main site, Wonthaggi Hospital, has undergone a transformation and expansion of specialty services in medical and surgical disciplines. A $115 million grant from government will fund the first part of our hospital’s expansion including a contemporary 18 bed emergency department and 8 bed short-stay that has recently opened (see - https://www.vhhsba.vic.gov.au/health/regional-facilities/wonthaggi-hospital-expansion).
