Job Title: Emergency Physician Monash Medical Centre, Clayton - permanent
Monash Health Emergency Services comprises the three Emergency Departments of Monash Health, Monash Medical Centre Emergency Department, Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department and Casey Hospital Emergency Department, which together treat over 200,000 patients per annum.Monash Medical Centre ED, part of the tertiary referral hospital, has separate adult and paediatric services and have over 90,000 presentations per annum.
Monash Health provides the full range of medical services across its sites. Patients entering the Health Service through any Emergency Department has available to them this full range of health services, although the patient may need to be transferred to another site within the service for treatment. We are the largest training program in the Southern Hemisphere employing 83 EFT of emergency medicine registrars working across our three sites.
An active research program is overseen by the Professor of Emergency Medicine Research with site research portfolios held by senior medical staff at each campus and a number of honors and PhD students undertaking further studies.
Monash Health is an impressive organisation of seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. We provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between, and we have recently opened the new 230-bed Monash Children’s Hospital.
About the Role
The position covers 1.75 EFT of permanent new positions which will be broken up to full and part time EFT.
The successful applicants will be given a unique opportunity to shape and build the delivery of emergency care in the tertiary centre of Monash Health. The role will sit within the adult department of the Clayton campus, which has a number of key improvements this year. We are implementing a new mental health and AOD model of care, staging and rebuilding a new department and introducing a new EMR.
Reporting to the Director of Emergency Medicine for Clayton ED, you will be supervising a busy tertiary emergency department, overseeing critical complex patients and coordinating flow. As a tertiary educational institution we have many trainees, HMOs and medical students who thrive on experience, supervision, demonstration and teaching while on the floor. We are also research centred.
