Position:
Senior House Officer (Emergency Medicine)

 

Summary:

This role provides the opportunity for Junior Medical Officers in their third to fifth post graduate year to advance your skills in assessment and management for patients presenting to the Emergency Department, and develop diagnostic, procedural and critical care skills under supervision with senior support, education, and training. Based in Southport and Robina.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for eight Senior House Officers (Emergency Medicine) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

 

You will

  • Provide Emergency care by assessing patients, determining and instigating appropriate investigations
  • Establish management plans for patients in consultation with the consultant
  • Ensure appropriate and timely communication to the General Practitioners, other health care providers and carers to ensure ongoing patient care post hospital stay
  • Attend tutorials, participate and present at quality and departmental teaching meetings, attend compulsory courses and participate in on-the-job training
  • Act as a role model to residents and interns through providing on the job guidance and direction and become involved in prevocational educational programs

 

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

 

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (or equivalent) qualification
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Evidence of competency in speaking and communicating in English as demonstrated by having completed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination and achieving a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components may be necessary
  • Driver licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be completed

Salary

·     Temporary full time and temporary part time (hours negotiable)  

·     Base salary ranging from $87 660 - $94 401 per annum or $44.21 - $47.61 per hour

 

About Us

Our Senior House Officer’s rotate between the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) and Robina Emergency Departments, spending three to six month periods at both departments. GCUH is a large tertiary referral and trauma centre with all sub-specialties represented, seeing around 330 attendances per day, whilst Robina Hospital sees around 180 patients per day.  Based in Southport and Robina.
