The Victorian Heart Hospital

The Victorian Heart hospital is a joint initiative between Monash Health and Monash University. The hospital will be located at Monash University and will be completed in October/November 2022 with occupancy in 2023. This hospital will be Australia’s first dedicated cardiac centre and will provide best practice high volume clinical cardiac patient care in a framework of innovative and efficient models of care. It will also house the Monash Cardiovascular Research Centre, the research arm of Monash Heart and a research centre of Monash University. The VHH will incorporate the full range of ambulatory and in-patient cardiac care, including cardiac operating theatres, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, cardiac intensive care, emergency department, non-invasive cardiac imaging services and cardiac specialist clinics. About Intensive Care at Monash Health

Monash Health Intensive Care provides the full range of adult including obstetric, and paediatric intensive care services. With the launch of the VHH there will be 4 Adult Intensive Care Units within the Monash Network:

• Intensive Care unit: Victorian Heart Hospital – 20 beds
• Intensive Care Unit: Monash Medical Centre – 26 beds
• Intensive Care Unit: Dandenong Hospital – 14 beds
• Intensive Care Unit: Casey Hospital – 12 beds

About the role

As the Director of Intensive Care, Victorian Heart Hospital you have accountability for the clinical and operational performance of the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) Intensive Care; you are a leader in the Senior Medical Team who acts as a role model for the core values of the organisation and provides outstanding and effective leadership, coordination, and management of the VHH Intensive Care Services employees. As part of the Monash ICU leadership team, you will:

• Assist the Monash Service Director Intensive Care in co-ordinating and providing intensive care services to the Monash Health intensive care network
• Support excellence in interdisciplinary clinical practice
• Facilitate clinical education and support research to advance VHH Intensive Care services and deliver excellence in patient-centred care.
• Have extensive clinical experience in managing complex, critically ill cardiology, and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Have formal echocardiography qualifications and significant recent echocardiography experience
• Have significant recent experience in instituting and managing VV/VA ECMO
• Have significant ICU leadership experience
• Manage the organisational medical staff structure of the VHH in consultation with the Service Director, Intensive Care and the Program Director
