Clinical Director Emergency Services – Emergency Department, Box hill Hospital

We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and statewide specialist services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.


The Clinical Director role is a leadership position providing support to the Director of Emergency to create systems of care which provide safe, efficient and effective care for Eastern Health Patients

Eastern Health Emergency Services provide urgent and critical care to over 160,000 patients per annum, across its three campuses at Box Hill, 
Maroondah and Angliss hospitals.

Box Hill Hospital is the referral hospital for the Eastern Suburbs with provision of tertiary care for most Medical and Surgical specialties and subspecialties. A hospital wide culture of improvement in patient flow has resulted in benefits in ED throughput.


Box Hill Hospital underwent a major hospital re-development in late 2014. The ED is now a spacious, purpose designed facility incorporating Resuscitation, General cubicles, Paediatrics and Fast Track as well as a 24 bed Short Stay Unit.

Our ED has a healthy inter-professional focus and embraces new models of care. We work in a streaming model aiming for senior involvement in patient care as early as possible. 



To be successful in this role you should possess:


  • Must be a registered medical practitioner with AHPRA.
  • Must have significant clinical experience, with experience and training in emergency medicine.
  • Must hold a Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) with relevant experience in Emergency Medicine.
  • Must be recognised by Medicare as a specialist in emergency medicine.
  • Must participate in relevant college continuing education programs particularly related to emergency medicine.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching of medical students, postgraduate medical staff and HMOs.
