About the Role
Hawera Hospital opened in 2002. This facility includes a 10 bed ED and 15 Bed inpatient ward (Medical and AT&R). The Hawera Emergency Department provides a 24-hour service for the 20,000 population of South Taranaki. A new Primary Care service offering 7 day a week Primary and Acute care within the Hawera Hospital facility commenced in November 2019 and a 4-bed primary maternity unit is located at the end on the in-patient ward.
The Hospital has a radiology (Xray and Ultrasound) and laboratory service on-site and available on-call 24/7. In addition, the emergency department has a Sonosite X-Porte ultrasound machine available for clinician-performed ultrasounds.
