About the Department

The Emergency Department (ED) provides care to more than 50,000 patients per annum and has a 40% admission rate. Close links with the University of Melbourne permit joint educational, research, quality and peer support activities.
The successful applicant/s will join a team of 30 full and part-time FACEMs. This is a rare opportunity to attain a position in one of the premier inner city EDs. Strong clinical skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary tertiary ED environment are essential.

About the Role

As an Emergency Physician, you will support the values and strategic priorities of St Vincent’s Hospital, provide excellence in the delivery of clinical service in the discipline of Emergency Medicine, and support St Vincent’s Hospital teaching, research and clinical governance programs.

Duties

• Provide emergency care and diagnostic services
• Participate in the full range of clinical activities
• Actively participate in a range of suitable clinical support activities
• Ensure prompt communication with other relevant clinicians and health care providers
• Ensure timely, efficient and high quality medical care is provided to patients including maintaining accurate medical records
• Other clinical duties as directed by the Director of Emergency

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Applicants must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Possess fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine; consideration will be given to those who are post ACEM Fellowship examination but        awaiting formal accreditation
• Demonstrates relevant knowledge and experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to engage successfully with patients, relatives and colleagues.
