Emergency Registrars and Career Medical Officers
Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health) is in an active phase and growth of its new and dynamic emergency service and is seeking enthusiastic and capable Emergency Registrars and Career Medical Officers to join our Emergency Department team. GV Health is committed to becoming a regional centre for excellence in emergency care and has taken the initial steps to achieve this: a new department, ACEM accreditation and an established & growing professional team.
As a Emergency Registrar and Career Medical Officer at GV Health, you will be responsible for the assessment and management of patients under the care and direction of Emergency Physicians. You will be exposed to an interesting and high acuity case mix, that will build your skills in Emergency Medicine. You will be part of a teaching environment, where you will provide direction to more junior staff and you will have dedicated teaching, to improve your skills, and to directly assist you in passing your Primary and Fellowship examinations.
We are offering positions to both Junior and Advanced Trainees in Emergency Medicine.
GV Health is an important regional emergency service – with nearly 39,000 annual attendances and a varied and very interesting case mix, including regional trauma and paediatric services. Typical of regional settings, the hospital has little of the bureaucracy of large centres and has reasonable patient flow and access. Salary and conditions are above award and are generous, reflecting the developmental phase of our emergency services rebuild. As a Registrar you will will have weekly dedicated teaching time. Shift structure is civilised, and part-time appointments are available to our Registrars. Financial relocation assistance is provided, and travel compensation and accommodation are available for part time staff travelling from metro or other regional areas.

A focus on building a high performing ED team – roles recently sourced include:
Critical Care: A newly built 10 bed ICU, accredited for training. Currently recruiting Intensivists. FACEM joint appointments or fractional ICU placement is an option.
Senior Medical Staff Development: GV Health has recently recruited an additional DMS with a focus on organisational improvement strategies and patient flow improvement.
Melbourne University appointments: We are affiliated with Melbourne University (local campus) and clinical, academic & honorary positions are accessible depending on candidate qualifications and experience.
