Emergency Department Cabrini Hospital Malvern, Melbourne

Senior Registrar Positions - Full time/Part Time, Flexible start date
Positions available 2022  - Terms 3 and 4 and all terms 2023.

We are offering a unique opportunity for motivated senior Emergency Registrars (preparing for their Fellowship exams in 2022-2025) to join our dynamic team of experienced FACEMs.

Successful candidates will be driven, have strong clinical skills and excellent communication skills.

Cabrini is a private not-for-profit Catholic health service delivering excellence in health care. The ED is at our flagship site, Cabrini Malvern, a tertiary 508-bed acute hospital with inpatient services across all specialties including ICU, anaesthetics, cardiology (24/7 catheterisation lab access), oncology, neurosurgery, cardiothoracics, obstetrics and paediatrics.

We are a highly regarded 28-bed department operational for 20 years, with attendances of 25,000 per annum and a 42% admission rate. In 2019 the ED was expanded to include multiple private rooms and intradepartmental X-ray, US and CT. We have ACEM accreditation for 12 months of advanced training and Paediatric Log Book.

Our ED is a well-resourced department with high patient complexity and acuity and a committed, caring workforce and culture. We provide an excellent environment to develop your skills as you make the transition to becoming an Emergency Physician. You will enjoy 24/7 direct access to supportive inpatient consultants along with open access to medical imaging services. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to apply for an ICU rotation.

Our highly successful Fellowship Exam program is run by an enthusiastic, experienced teaching team offering exposure to ACEM examiners. Since 2017 we have had an overall 82% success rate in the Written and Clinical Fellowship Examinations.

We provide weekly Education and Fellowship Teaching protected time along with excellent paediatrics experience (20% case mix) and access to regular in-house Paediatric Advanced Life

 Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation and Adult ALS courses.  A Cabrini practice Fellowship Clinical Exam for Cabrini Registrars has been successfully run since 2017 and continues in partnership with The Austin Hospital twice a year. We have recently established an in-situ multidisciplinary Simulation program led by a senior FACEM.  We led the research in Australia’s first Medical Scribe Program and we have developed a well-established award-winning Nursing Follow-up Phone Call Program.

We are well resourced with all infection control measures including a respiratory protection program.
