Our purpose The Canterbury District Health Board systematically plan, fund and deliver care to almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. The team The Emergency Department, Waipapa, is one of the busiest in Australasia and sees approximately 105,000 patients per annum, of which 42% are admitted. The department has accreditation for advanced training in Emergency Medicine for two years by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, and is renowned as a 'Finishing school' for Advanced Trainees, Fellows and new Consultants.
